Purpose of the SCORE licensing program:
The purpose of the SCORE video licensing program is to develop an effective media distribution, production and rights management system for the benefit of television partners, sponsors, teams, fans and SCORE International.
Like any legitimate sporting or entertainment event, managing the media program and footage rights is essential to protect the intellectual property rights of SCORE and their partners and to best leverage the ever changing media opportunities. Our first obligation is to protect any exclusive rights sold to television partners and sponsors. These partners contribute to the long term growth of SCORE and its media program. We are also mindful of the needs of teams, filmmakers, endemic advertisers, and fans and have set up a system to enable them to secure non-conflicting rights. Finally, we want to establish a centralized media management system that ensures more cohesive productions in the field and a master footage archive.
Aura360 is the exclusive rights holder of all forms of video content emanating from any one of the SCORE races as part of a multi-year contract that originated in 2004. Aura360 administers the licensing program in conjunction with SCORE International.
How does it work?:
Parties interested in obtaining a license to shoot and publically distribute SCORE race footage need to complete a questionnaire that Aura360 uses to determine if the requested rights can be granted and what the financial and contractual terms will be. Upon a quotation and general review of the terms, Aura360 will send the licensee a contract. This contract must be executed prior to any individual or entity being added to the media credential list. The rights afforded in the agreement are only realized upon full payment and any approvals as required by the contract.
Who needs to obtain a license?:
Anyone who plans to publically and commercially distribute video content across any medium (on-line, dvd, television, etc.). Exceptions include qualified news organizations who utilize limited footage per industry standards for reporting purposes. However, it must be determined by SCORE and Aura360 that you qualify as press.
What are the contractual terms?:
Your agreement will reflect the terms agreed to with Aura360. No license is transferrable and your license is only applicable to the production or distribution outlets identified. The cost is based on pre-determined fee structure, with some variables such as the nature of the program, running time, and sponsorship considerations.
How do I obtain stock footage?:
Aura360 owns hundreds of hours of SCORE footage dating back to 2004. Anyone interested in obtaining footage to enhance their production or for any other reason is encouraged to contact us for details.
How do I submit footage for inclusion in official broadcasts?:
We welcome footage sent by teams for potential inclusion in the broadcast. This could include helicopter footage or in-car camera footage, etc. Content providers will need to sign a license agreement with Aura360 and submit video in an approved format.
